Salesforce Setup Custom Tabs Privacy Policy

Salesforce Setup Custom Tabs ("the extension") is a Chrome browser extension published by SFings that lets you create custom navigation tabs in Salesforce Setup. This policy explains what data the extension handles, how it is stored, and your choices.

The short version: all of your data stays on your device. The extension has no servers, makes no network requests, and never transmits any data anywhere.

What data the extension stores

The extension stores the following data locally on your computer using Chrome's chrome.storage.local API:

• Custom tab configurations — the tab names, colors, and Salesforce Setup URL paths you create, including folder groupings, to display your custom tabs in Salesforce Setup and in the extension popup.
• Salesforce org identifiers — the first hostname label of Salesforce orgs you visit (e.g. mycompany from mycompany.lightning.force.com), plus any custom name you assign, to let you show specific tabs only in specific orgs.
• Install date — the date the extension was installed, to time an optional in-extension prompt asking you to leave a review.
• Review-prompt flags — local counters recording whether you have used certain features or dismissed the review prompt, to avoid showing it repeatedly.

All of this data is created by your own use of the extension. The extension does not collect personally identifiable information, authentication information, credentials, cookies, payment information, health information, location data, or browsing history.

What data the extension reads

To function, the extension's content script runs only on Salesforce Setup pages (*.salesforce-setup.com and *.force.com). On those pages it reads:

• The page URL and hostname, to detect which Salesforce org and Setup page you are on.
• The page title and URL path, only when you click "add current page" to create a tab from it.
• The Setup navigation bar of the page, to insert your custom tabs into it.

The extension does not read Salesforce record data, form fields, cookies, or credentials, and does not run on any non-Salesforce website.

Data transmission and sharing

None. The extension makes no network requests of any kind. It contains no analytics, telemetry, error reporting, or advertising code, and loads no remote scripts or resources. Your data is never sent to the developer or to any third party. Because no data leaves your device, there is nothing to share or sell.

Data storage and security

All data is stored locally in Chrome's extension storage on your device and is protected by Chrome's built-in extension sandboxing. The data is not synced to other devices and is not accessible to websites or other extensions.

Data retention and deletion

Data is retained locally until you delete it. You can delete individual tabs or orgs at any time from the extension popup, or remove all stored data by uninstalling the extension — Chrome deletes the extension's storage automatically.

Permissions used

• storage — to save your tab configurations locally.
• activeTab — to interact with the Salesforce tab you currently have open.
• Host access to *.salesforce-setup.com and *.force.com — to display your custom tabs on Salesforce Setup pages only.

Limited Use disclosure

The extension's use of data complies with the Chrome Web Store Limited Use policy. Data is used only to provide the extension's single, user-facing purpose — custom navigation tabs in Salesforce Setup — and is never transferred to third parties, used for advertising, or reviewed by humans.

Changes to this policy

If the extension's data practices ever change, this policy will be updated and the "Last updated" date revised. Material changes will be noted in the extension's Chrome Web Store listing.
